Top 10 Alternative + Unique Wedding Venues in York

There are loads of places to choose from and we decided on what we hope are ten very different and unique wedding venues in York. Here we go, in no particular order…

1. The Hospitium

A 14th century, two-storey listed building set within the beautiful York Museum Gardens in York city centre. We’ve shot here a few times and the staff and venue are WONDERFUL!  Check out Jamie + Laura’s wedding to see how ace your big day could look here.

2. York Museums Trust Venues

Including The Hospitium (above), York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum and York Art Gallery. These venues are full of history and would be perfect if you love all things old and want to get married somewhere truly beautiful!

3. Betty’s Tea Room

My favourite cake ever is a Fondant Fancy from Betty’s. They hire out the Belmont Room in their York tea room for wedding receptions and I can’t imagine a more elegant place to sip Pimms and eat cucumber sandwiches after you get married!

4. National Railway Museum

A fantastic place for train lovers to tie the knot and party on into the evening. The building has a licence for civil ceremonies so you can even get wed by your favourite trains! But if you want to have a party on a train…

5. Merchant Adventurers’ Hall

A medieval guildhall, this place is one of a kind and would be perfect for winter or weddings with a bit of an epic theme.

6. Castle Howard

Money no object and want to get married like royalty, well this is the place for you.

7. York’s Chocolate Story

Love chocolate and having a smaller wedding, one of York’s newest attractions can cater for evening receptions with a licensed bar and catering available!

8. The Normans

This place is pretty unique, go and have a look around the website to see what we mean.

9. National Centre for Early Music

Looks like a church, not a church. In the middle of York city centre and beautifully light and airy too!

10. The Salix Yurts

Just on the outskirts of York, two massive yurts. Perfect place for a festival wedding, we shoot loads of those and they are the MOST FUN.
