Stephen Joseph Theatre Wedding Photography
We got to shoot a double wedding at The Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.
This was a first for us, two couples getting married at the same time and doing so on the McCarthy Stage of the iconic Stephen Joseph Theatre. With the catering being taken care of by the award-winning Eat Me Cafe, we knew this was a wedding (weddings?) we couldn’t miss.
We have to admit, we were having our own wedding nerves in the days leading up to the ceremony. Shooting in a dark theatre is tricky enough at the best of times but throw in a double wedding and there were several more hurdles to clear. All worries faded away once we met up with Ruth + Sean, Gill + Sami, and all their friends and family. Big shout out to the staff at SJT as well. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful that we were just able to concentrate on doing our thing and documenting the day.
After our brides arrived there was a frenetic chase around backstage and the green room before heading to the theatre for the ceremony. The actual weddings were skillfully performed by the charming Registrars from Scarborough Registry Office and we got to commandeer the McCarthy Stage for the group shots. Afterwards, we gorged on an excellent buffet laid out by local’s favourite Eat Me Cafe and even managed to sneak onto the set of Dracula for a few quick photos. We left as everyone grabbed their tickets and headed into the Theatre in the Round to enjoy a production of Bram Stoker’s novel.
It was an incredible and unique day in The Stephen Joseph Theatre and a challenge we gladly sank our teeth into.
