Grand Hotel Scarborough Wedding Photography – Lydia + Jimmy

Lydia + Jimmy had their wedding bash at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.

We were on our home turf for Lydia + Jimmy’s wedding although we had never shot at the Grand Hotel Scarborough before. We started our day with Jimmy getting ready at home and Lydia at her parents’ house. We’ve known Lydia’s family for a few years now so it was a great honour to be asked to photograph her wedding day. We also knew that the day would be all about the people. With a little special attention being paid towards her grandad, or “Pappy”. It was especially touching to see him looking on approvingly with a smile on his face throughout the day.

The registry office was packed to bursting with family and friends who’d come to support the couple as they said their vows. After the ceremony, everyone headed down to the iconic Grand Hotel as the sun shone down. The Palm Court Ballroom is a stunning room for a wedding reception with its huge pillars, windows and pastel colour scheme. Emotional speeches led into the best game of Mr & Mrs that we’ve ever seen, Lydia’s Dad being a professional entertainer certainly helped to keep the day lively.

It was an emotional day. These two love the bones of each other and they’re not afraid to show it. Whilst we often find ourselves with damp eyes behind our cameras, there were several moments where we had to swallow the lump in our throats and when Pappy joined the bride for a dance there weren’t many folks in the room who didn’t have to reach for a tissue.
